PRAYAGRAJ, March 2 -- Ahead of the festival of colours, Holika Dahan is scheduled to take place at 3,994 locations across Prayagraj district on Monday. In view of the large-scale celebrations, the police administration has implemented elaborate security arrangements. Holika sites in both urban and rural areas have been decorated, and organising committees have completed their preparations. According to police officials, Holika Dahan will take place at 849 locations in the city zone, 1,646 in the Trans-Ganga region, and 1,499 in the Trans-Yamuna area of the district. Based on crowd density and previous incidents, 114 sites have been marked as sensitive, where enhanced security measures will be enforced. Officials said these sensitive areas include George Town, Mutthiganj, Khuldabad, Lakdmandi, Kotwali, Kareli, Nawabganj, Mauaima, and Manda, among others. At these locations, Quick Response Teams (QRTs), each comprising two inspectors and five constables, have been deployed. Surveillance will be carried out through 1,146 CCTV cameras and drones operating under the I-TRIPLE-C system. Mobile police teams will also remain on high alert, officials said. Police have emphasised that inflammatory, objectionable, or rumor-mongering posts on social media will invite immediate action. The cyber cell has been activated to monitor online platforms. Authorities have appealed to citizens to refrain from sharing misleading content and to cooperate in maintaining law and order.
