Eight held for sheltering accused in Jaunpur bridegroom murder case
VARANASI, May 4 -- Eight people were arrested on Sunday near Songar Mod for allegedly sheltering two accused wanted in the murder of a bridegroom in the Khetasarai area of Jaunpur, police said. In a communique, police said those arrested were Ramjeet Bind, Aditya Gautam, Kamlesh Yadav, Gulshan Rajbhar, Sahil Rajbhar, Sachin Rajbhar, Shole Rajbhar and Brijmohan Bind, all residents of different parts of Jaunpur. They are accused of giving shelter to the main accused and helping them escape after the incident in Badshahi Bazar on Friday. A fresh case has been registered against the eight accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Khetasarai police station, police said. They were produced before a court and later sent to jail.
Police said a reward of Rs.25,000 each has been announced by senior superintendent of Police Kunwar Anupam Singh for information leading to the arrest of the main accused. According to police, the bridegroom-to-be was shot dead during his marriage procession late on Friday night. During the investigation, police found that a relative of the bride, who was unhappy with the marriage, was behind the attack. Police said Pradeep Bind, a resident of Chiksawan in Azamgarh, along with his accomplice Ravi Yadav, allegedly opened fire on the groom, Azad Bind. He was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. On the complaint of Ram Lakhan Bind, a case of murder has been registered against the two accused at Khetasarai police station. Police said teams have formed to arrest the main accused and further investigation is under way....
