Eight Delhi-bound flights diverted to Lucknow
Lucknow, June 14 -- Adverse weather conditions in Delhi during the intervening night of June 12 and 13 forced the diversion of eight Delhi-bound flights to Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA) in Lucknow, a spokesperson for the airport stated on Saturday.
The diverted flights, operated by IndiGo, Air India, Air India Express, Air Astana and SpiceJet, were carrying over 1,280 passengers and 56 crew members. All aircraft landed safely in Lucknow, where airport authorities and airline staff coordinated to provide ground handling support, refreshments and assistance for onward travel.
The first diverted flight was IndiGo flight 6E932 operating from Ahmedabad to Delhi, which landed at Lucknow at 12:08 am with 222 passengers and seven crew members on board. The aircraft later departed for Delhi at 1:52 am.
Shortly before midnight, Air India flight AI29004 from Varanasi to Delhi landed at Lucknow at 11:59 pm carrying 143 passengers and eight crew members. The flight resumed its journey at 1:42 am.
Air India Express flight IX1029, operating from Patna to Delhi, touched down at Lucknow at 12:32 am with 169 passengers and eight crew members. Twenty-three passengers voluntarily chose to disembark at Lucknow. The flight subsequently departed for Delhi at 2:23 am.
Another diversion involved Air India flight AI1847 from Bhubaneswar to Delhi, which landed at 12:59 am with 155 passengers and eight crew members. The aircraft departed for Delhi at 2:06 am.
IndiGo flight 6E6457 from Mangaluru to Delhi landed at Lucknow at 1:05 am carrying 140 passengers and six crew members before departing at 2:32 am.
An international service, Air Astana flight KC963 operating from Almaty to Delhi, was also diverted to Lucknow. The flight landed at 1:11 am with 173 passengers and eight crew members on board and later departed for Delhi at 2:49 am.
IndiGo flight 6E6636 from Kishangarh to Delhi arrived at Lucknow at 1:19 am with 190 passengers and seven crew members. Three passengers were offloaded at Lucknow before the flight departed for Delhi at 3:20 am.
The final diverted aircraft was SpiceJet flight SG2478 from Patna to Delhi, which landed at Lucknow at 1:36 am carrying 88 passengers and four crew members. Unlike the other diverted flights, the service was cancelled. Airline officials arranged hotel accommodation for passengers and advised them to contact the carrier for further travel information.
"All diverted flights were handled safely and necessary passenger facilitation arrangements were made by the airport and the concerned airlines," airport spokesperson said....
