LUCKNOW, April 15 -- Following the onset of dry weather in Uttar Pradesh, maximum temperatures have returned to normal levels, marked by an average increase of over 10degC over the past four days, the weatherman said.
Furthermore, due to strong Westerly Winds during the day, the maximum temperatures across UP rose by 2 to 3degC on Tuesday. The southern region crossed the 40degC threshold, said Atul Kumar Singh, a senior scientist at Lucknow Met office.
He said, "With no active weather systems anticipated over the next 4-5 days, dry Westerly Winds are expected to persist, keeping weather conditions dry. Additionally, as an anti-cyclone currently situated over Karnataka and Maharashtra shifts towards Central India, a gradual rise in temperatures of 3 to 4degC is projected; consequently, maximum temperatures-including in the state capital, Lucknow-are likely to exceed the 40degC mark and rise above normal levels in numerous locations across the state."
The day temperatures in at least five UP cities crossed the 40-degree Celsius mark on Tuesday, with April just half through. In Banda, the maximum temperature rose to 42.6degC; Jhansi 40.5degC, Prayagraj 40.4degC, Varanasi BHU 40.1degC, and Sultanpur 40degC.
The state capital Lucknow recorded the hottest day of the season on Tuesday, with the mercury soaring to 38.1 degrees. On March 30, it was 37.4deg C, which was 2.2 degrees above normal.
The forecast for Lucknow is clear skies, with maximum and minimum temperatures around 38 and 20 degrees Celsius, respectively....
