LUCKNOW, Sept. 23 -- A 34-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly beating his elder brother to death during a drunken altercation at their home in Gwari village under Gomtinagar police station, police said. "The accused, identified as Pramod Kumar Rawat, was arrested near Gwari crossing on Tuesday following a tip-off, police said. A case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered on a complaint by the deceased's wife, Bharti, on Monday," said SHO BC Tiwari. According to police statement, the deceased, Ajay Kumar Rawat, and Pramod were brothers and both allegedly consumed alcohol. "During questioning, Pramod told police that Ajay used to frequently abuse their mother and sister while being drunk and would also assault him," the statement added. Police said that on September 21 too, the two brothers had a heated argument, but this time it that escalated into a physical fight. Pramod allegedly assaulted Ajay.
