Driver killed as truck rams stationary tanker
PRAYAGRAJ, May 17 -- A truck driver was killed after his vehicle rammed into a stationary water tanker along the Kokhraj-Handia bypass in the Utraon police station area of Prayagraj, police said on Saturday.
The accident took place near Jalalpur village when a truck laden with footwear and headed towards Delhi went out of control and collided with a water tanker parked at a petrol pump. The impact was severe, leaving the driver dead on the spot.
The deceased has been identified as Bagesh Yadav (40), a resident of Etah district. According to police, the accident is suspected to have occurred after the driver allegedly dozed off while driving.
On receiving information, police reached the scene and, after considerable effort, extricated the body from the mangled cabin, which was then sent for post-mortem....
