DRI seizes 3.93 kg Nepal-origin charas worth Rs.3.93 crore
LUCKNOW, Oct. 7 -- The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), in coordination with the Railway Protection Force (RPF), has seized 3.931 kg of Nepal-origin charas, valued at around Rs.3.93 crore in the illicit market, from two passengers travelling on the Sapt Kranti Express near Lucknow, officials said through a release issued on Tuesday.
The action was carried out in the early hours of Monday following specific intelligence about the movement of two passengers allegedly carrying charas smuggled from Nepal.
A joint team of DRI officers and RPF personnel intercepted the two passengers travelling in the general compartment of train, Sapt Kranti Express. A search of their luggage led to the recovery of 3.931 kg of charas, which was identified as being of Nepal origin, officials said.
During questioning, the two suspects allegedly admitted that the contraband had been smuggled into India from Nepal and was to be delivered in New Delhi....
