Draft polling stations list to be published on July 4
PRAYAGRAJ, July 2 -- As part of preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections, the district administration on Wednesday held a meeting with representatives of all recognised national and state political parties to discuss the preparation and revision of polling stations.
Chairing the meeting at Sangam Auditorium, district magistrate Manish Kumar Verma said the draft list of polling stations would be published on July 4, following which political parties can submit suggestions, objections, or requests for modifications by July 6.Additional district magistrate (administration) Upma Pandey said the rationalisation of polling stations is being carried out as a pre-revision exercise under the Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls.
In accordance with the Election Commission's directions, the physical verification, reorganisation, and identification of new polling stations across all Assembly constituencies were completed by June 28.
The district magistrate said polling stations are being rationalised on the basis of a maximum of 1,200 electors per polling station, as mandated by the Election Commission.He urged representatives of political parties to submit any suggestions or objections regarding changes or revisions in polling stations to the Electoral Registration Officer of the concerned Assembly constituency or the district election office by July 6. He added that objections received after the stipulated deadline would not be considered.Representatives of major political parties attended the meeting.
