Lucknow, Sept. 15 -- The Central government's department of personnel and training (DoPT) on Monday accepted the resignation of Divya Mittal, a 2013-batch IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre. Mittal had tendered her resignation on August 30, citing personal reasons, family priorities and new goals in life. The state government had sent her resignation to the central government. The resignation will be effective from September 15, an officer said. During her 13 years as an IAS officer, Mittal was posted in various districts, including Gonda, Sant Kabir Nagar, Meerut Bareilly, Mirzapur, Deoria and Lucknow. As district magistrate (DM), she served in Sant Kabir Nagar, Deoria and Mirzapur. After serving as Deoria DM between July 2024 and May 2026, she was special secretary, revenue department, since May 2026. She holds B.Tech (IIT) and PGDM (IIM) degrees. In May 2026, she was removed as Deoria district magistrate and posted as special secretary in the revenue department. While announcing her resignation on social media, Mittal had written: "Today, I have voluntarily resigned from the IAS, ending an unforgettable 13-year journey." The note also mentioned why she chose to return to India and join the civil services after working in London. Divya Mittal concluded by writing, "I may have lost my position today, but that touch will remain with me for the rest of my life. And I won't lose the dream this land of our country has given me either."...
