Donor, recipient shifted to Lko's RMLIMS under cops' supervision
LUCKNOW, April 3 -- A male kidney donor and a female recipient were transferred under police security from Kanpur to Lucknow for specialised medical evaluation. While the former, Ayush Chaudhary, 24, was brought from Kanpur's Lala Lajpat Rai (Hallett) Hospital to the Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) in Gomti Nagar, the latter was initially taken to the SGPGI on Wednesday and then brought to the RMLIMS on Thursday, said officials.
Arriving in separate ambulances, the transfer was closely monitored by a male and a female sub-inspector from the Kanpur Police to ensure strict security and coordination during transit. The youth was admitted as a destitute patient, while the woman was registered as a known patient and was accompanied by a relative. Both were admitted to the nephrology department, where doctors began necessary medical evaluations and treatment as per established protocol.
Ayush Chaudhary, a fourth-semester MBA student at Graphic Era Management College in Dehradun and a native of Samastipur, Bihar, had told authorities in Kanpur that he resorted to selling his kidney after a loan application failed. Parul Tomar, 43, from Muzaffarnagar, who allegedly underwent an illegal kidney transplant at a private hospital in Kanpur, had earlier been shifted to SGPGIMS, Lucknow, on Wednesday after her condition deteriorated.
Hospital authorities in Lucknow said clinical assessments, including renal function tests and post-procedure monitoring had been completed, and both the patients were stable. The male donor is expected to be discharged in three-four days, while the female recipient will be discharged after completing the transplant protocol after 15 days, said one of the media cell members at RMLIMS....
