Rudrapur, Nov. 6 -- A DNA test has found that a 16-year-old girl in Pithoragarh's Kanalichhina was impregnated by her minor distant cousin, and not by the schoolteacher initially arrested in the case, police said. Police have taken the boy into custody and produced him before the Juvenile Justice Board in Pithoragarh, which sent him to a juvenile observation home in Almora, officers said. "The DNA report confirmed that a minor relative was responsible for impregnating the girl. However, the teacher's role cannot be ruled out completely, as the victim had named him during the initial probe. Furthermore, objectionable photos and videos were recovered from his mobile phone, which have been seized as evidence," said Pithoragarh superintendent of police Akshay Pralhad Konde.
