LUCKNOW, Aug. 9 -- For passengers hoping to fly directly from Lucknow to Goa, the journey has suddenly become longer and more expensive. IndiGo has suspended its direct Lucknow-Goa service, citing weak passenger demand, leaving travellers dependent on connecting flights, said officials. The suspension is the latest setback for connectivity from Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, where the number of direct services to key tourist destinations has been shrinking. The direct Goa service had offered a relatively convenient option for passengers from Lucknow and neighbouring districts. IndiGo flight 6E-399 used to depart Lucknow at around 3.15 pm and reach Goa at 5.34 pm. The return flight, 6E-6811, departed Goa at 6.04 pm and landed in Lucknow at 8.21 pm. Tickets on the direct service were generally available for around Rs.7,000-8,000, making Goa accessible without the hassle of changing planes. Passengers are now having to rely on connecting flights. The journey takes longer and fares are currently reaching Rs.12,000-15,000, depending on the date and availability. Industry sources say the suspension is linked to low passenger loads....
