LUCKNOW, Aug. 25 -- In a major first round upset at the AITA Championship Series Under-16otournament here on Monday, unseeded Dhruv of Uttar Pradesh produced a commanding performance to beat sixth seed Vishesh, also from Uttar Pradesh, 6-4, 6-1, and book his place in the pre-quarterfinals. From the opening point Dhruv played aggressively, taking the initiative with deep returns and powerful forehands that kept Vishesh on the defensive and never allowed him to build momentum, at the La Martiniere Lawn Tennis Facility. Dhruv claimed the first set 6-4 after breaking at a decisive stage, then maintained his intensity in the second set where he dominated with clean serving and quick net approaches. Vishesh struggled to find answers as Dhruv's pace and precision left little room for counterplay, and the match closed swiftly at 6-1. The result stands out among the early shocks of the main draw and highlights Dhruv's readiness to challenge higher ranked opponents. Top seed Arjun Sharma of Uttar Pradesh began his campaign in confident fashion, defeating local challenger Anay Srivastava 6-4, 6-3.
