Dhami hails Centre's move to lower excise duty on petrol, diesel
Dehradun, March 28 -- Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday welcomed the Centre's decision to reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel, saying the move would provide significant relief to the common people.
In a post on X, the chief minister praised the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said the decision reflects the Centre's commitment to protecting public interest.
"Whenever the country has faced challenges, respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has ensured the protection of the interests of the countrymen through his strong leadership and visionary decisions," Dhami wrote. Referring to the latest decision on fuel taxes, the chief minister said reducing the excise duty on petrol from Rs.13 to Rs.3 per litre and on diesel from Rs.10 to zero is a historic step that will bring major relief to citizens. He said that the imposition of export duty on diesel and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) to ensure adequate domestic availability demonstrates a balanced and public-friendly approach by the Union government.
