Development must reach the last person: Athawale
VARANASI, June 29 -- Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale on Sunday said the Centre's objective is to ensure that the benefits of development reach the person standing at the last rung of the social ladder.
Addressing a press conference at the Circuit House in Varanasi, Athawale said the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has implemented several development and public welfare schemes over the past 12 years.
He said the Centre has taken several historic decisions in the areas of social justice, welfare of the poor, social security, infrastructure development, women's empowerment, youth upliftment, and the welfare of deprived and backward sections of society.
Highlighting the government's achievements under various central schemes, Athawale said continuous efforts are being made to realise the vision of a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India)....
