GORAKHPUR, Oct. 12 -- A 65-year-old woman was killed after an SUV rammed into a tea stall in the Lahi Par area of Deoria district around 3 am on Sunday. Her husband, who was sleeping with her inside the stall, escaped unhurt. Police have seized the vehicle and detained two people in connection with the incident. The deceased was identified as Chandrawati Devi. Bariyar police station SHO Deepak Singh confirmed the death and said an investigation was underway to ascertain the circumstances that led to the accident. An 18-year-old youth drowned in a river during a Durga Puja Kalash Yatra at Katka Ghat under Huzurpur police station limits on Sunday. His body was recovered around 3 pm after a three-hour search. The deceased, identified as Manoj Sharma 18, son of Munna Lal Sharma, was a resident of Vijaypur village under Kaiserganj police station area.
