Deoria health services hit as 16 CHC, PHC in-charges resign
Gorakhpur, June 9 -- Rural healthcare services in Deoria were disrupted on Monday after 16 medical officers serving as in-charges of CHCs and PHCs submitted collective resignations, citing mental harassment and severe staff shortages.
They said they would continue treating patients. Officials said the district has 103 doctors against 215 sanctioned posts, forcing doctors to handle emergency, OPD, IPD, post-mortem and programme duties.
Medicine distribution was affected, with many patients buying medicines privately.
The resignation comes amid recent administrative reshuffles within the district health department, including the transfer of several medical officers serving as in-charges.
Meanwhile, Deoria chief medical officer Dr Anil Kumar Gupta rejected the allegations, stating that all transfers and administrative decisions were made strictly in accordance with government norms....
