Dedicated circular road planned ahead of Kumbh '31
PRAYAGRAJ, March 11 -- Officials are working on a comprehensive mobility plan that will strengthen connectivity between railway stations, bus terminals and the Mela area, while also reducing traffic congestion across key routes in Prayagraj.
As part of this broader preparation, officials have proposed the development of a dedicated circular road corridor linking major transport hubs with the Kumbh fair grounds.
Ahead of Kumbh-2031, the proposal was discussed in detail during a meeting between railway and civil administration officials held on Tuesday at NCR's Prayagraj divisional office. The meeting was chaired by divisional railway manager Rajneesh Agarwal and attended by district magistrate Manish Kumar Verma, additional divisional railway manager Deepak Kumar, Prayagraj Development Authority vice-chairman Rishi Raj and several other senior officials.
The meeting also focused on strengthening infrastructure at key railway stations in the Prayagraj region in preparation for Kumbh-2031. It was agreed that a joint committee be formed to conduct a gap analysis of major stations including Prayagraj Junction, Subedarganj, Naini, Chheoki, Jhunsi and Phaphamau.
Proposed upgrades include platform expansion, construction of new foot-over bridges, improved entry and exit routes, and development of circulating areas....
