VARANASI, July 13 -- The bodies of a married couple were found in decomposed condition in a deep gorge in the Markundi Ghati under Chopan police station area of Sonbhadra on Sunday, police said. According to police, locals spotted the two bodies in the deep gorge of Markundi Valley on Sunday morning. A red motorcycle was also lying near the bodies. They informed the police and a police team led by Gurma police outpost in-charge sub inspector Shriprakash arrived at the scene and inspected the site. The police stated that the badly decomposed bodies suggested the incident occurred several days ago. After considerable effort, the deceased were identified as a married couple of Bichhi in the Robertsganj area. The woman's maternal home is reported to be in Salkhan village, under the Chopan police station's jurisdiction. With the help of locals, the police retrieved the bodies from the gorge, took them into custody, and sent them for post mortem examination. The families of the deceased have been informed of the incident. Gurma outpost in-charge Shriprakash stated that the matter is being probed from various angles, including the possibility of a road accident, suicide, or other potential causes.
