LUCKNOW, Sept. 16 -- The Uttar Pradesh government has cleared the way for direct recruitment to 897 vacant assistant teacher posts in the affiliated primary sections of non-government-aided secondary schools, excluding minority institutions, with TET now mandatory along with BTC or D.El.Ed qualification, director of secondary education Pratap Singh Baghel said. Of the 897 vacant posts, 473 are in the boys' cadre and 424 in the girls' cadre. A requisition for filling all the posts has been sent to the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC), Baghel said. The government issued a gazette notification on September 14 (Monday) amending the regulations under the Uttar Pradesh Intermediate Education Act, 1921, to incorporate the revised educational qualifications. Under the earlier rules, candidates needed a graduation degree along with CT, BTC, ASTC or an equivalent qualification. In the absence of BTC-trained candidates, those with a B.Ed degree could also be appointed. Under the revised rules, passing TET has been made mandatory along with BTC or D.El.Ed, Baghel said.
