LUCKNOW, Aug. 7 -- A late-night collision between a DCM and a truck on the Outer Ring Road (Kisan Path) in Sarojininagar claimed the lives of DCM driver and his helper, late on Wednesday night. The accident occurred around 10.45 pm on Wednesday near the Gahru underpass when DCM, travelling towards Bijnor from Sarojini Nagar, rammed into the rear of a truck moving in the same direction. The impact completely crushed the cabin of the DCM, trapping both occupants inside the mangled vehicle. According to the fire department, a call reporting that two people were trapped inside the vehicle was received at the Sarojini Nagar Fire Station. Rescue teams from Sarojini Nagar and Alam Bagh, along with the Major Disaster Response Vehicle (MDRV) from Hazratganj, were rushed to the spot. "Rescue teams used equipment to create enough space to pull out victims," said Sumit Pratap Singh, fire station officer, Sarojini Nagar. One occupant was rescued, while the second was extricated after the arrival of additional fire units and SDRF, which jointly cut apart the mangled cabin. Both were shifted to Lok Bandhu Hospital, where doctors declared them dead. Police identified the deceased as driver Shailendra (39), and helper Raja Bhaiya (35), both were residents of Bariyarpur village under Kuthaund police station in Jalaun district." htc...
