Cyber fraudsters hack AU professor's mobile
PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 2 -- Cyber criminals are employing novel tactics to target individuals. A new incident has occurred involving Dr. Ritu Modi, a professor in the Department of Psychology at Allahabad University. Cyber criminals hacked her mobile phone and sent messages to over 300 people, demanding money. The Colonelganj police registered an FIR based on her complaint and are investigating the matter. Colonelganj station house officer (SHO) Gyaneshwar Mishra stated that an FIR has been registered against unknown persons, and the case is being investigated with the assistance of the cyber cell.
Police arrested two persons near Murdhawa turn under Pipari police station area in Sonbhadra and recovered 2 quintals 850 grams of illicit cannabis seized (estimated value approx. Rs.1 crore 50 thousand) from their possession, police said.
The accused have been identified as Umesh Ahirwar, 23, and Mahipal Pal, 23. A case has been registered under sections 8/20/27A/29/60 of the NDPS Act and Sections 318(4), 336(2), 336(3), 340(2) of the BNS), and further legal action is underway, said superintendent of police Abhishek Verma.
During interrogation, the arrested accused revealed that they had been tasked with transporting cannabis from Odisha to Mahoba, for which they were promised a payment of Rs.20,000 per trip....
