Lucknow, July 2 -- Cyber cafes, photocopy shops and public call offices located within a 200-metre radius of Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) examination centres in Lucknow will remain closed during examination hours as part of enhanced anti-cheating measures for the state teacher eligibility test beginning on Wednesday. The restrictions are among a series of security arrangements put in place by the Lucknow Police Commissionerate for the three-day examination, which will be held on July 2, 3 and 4 across 46 centres with 96,454 candidates expected to appear. Police have deployed 332 personnel, including 46 sub-inspectors, 92 constables/head constables, 92 women constables and 92 armed police personnel for the examination. Meanwhile, a total of 19,94,661 candidates will appear for the three-day Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2026 that will start at 955 exam centres across 60 districts of the state on Thursday. The examination will include 1,85,791 in-service teachers and 18,08,870 new candidates. The districts with the highest number of candidates include Varanasi, Prayagraj, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Kanpur Nagar, Meerut, Mau, Moradabad and Agra. Reviewing the preparations for the exams, chief minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to ensure that the fairness, transparency and credibility are maintained at all costs.
