Lucknow, Sept. 29 -- Chief secretary SP Goyal on Monday directed the food safety and drug administration department to prepare a long-term strategy to curb adulteration in food products and the manufacture and sale of fake, misbranded medicines. Chairing a meeting of the department's state-level steering committee, Goyal stressed action from the stage of raw materials to manufacturing units to eliminate adulteration. He directed that eight newly constructed food laboratories be made operational with the required manpower by October 31 and all new and remaining laboratories secure NABL accreditation by June 2027. The department was also asked to develop an integrated online platform to track samples, test results and enforcement action.
