Lucknow, Sept. 10 -- Chief secretary SP Goyal on Wednesday directed divisional commissioners and district magistrates to get Village Development Plans of the remaining 5,973 villages approved within a month and immediately declare 1,878 villages that have scored 70 marks as model villages. Reviewing the Ideal Village Scheme through videoconferencing, Goyal warned that accountability would be fixed on chief development officers if pending cases were not cleared within the stipulated period. The meeting also reviewed the spread of lumpy skin disease, communicable diseases, influenza, flood relief and Farmer Registry. He directed officials to intensify vaccination, isolation, vector control and sanitation measures in districts affected by lumpy skin disease. He also asked officials to step up disease-control activities in high-risk areas and ensure adequate medicines and testing facilities. In flood-hit areas, health and relief measures were ordered to remain the top priority, while crop-loss surveys should begin immediately after floodwater recedes....
