CRPF man killed in Prayagraj hit-and-run, cousin critical
PRAYAGRAJ, Feb. 27 -- A 28-year-old Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable was killed and his cousin critically injured after an unidentified vehicle rammed into their motorcycle late on Wednesday night, near the Madhawamai village, under the Saini police station limits, in Kaushambi district, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Brijesh Kumar Pal, a resident of Ken village in the Saini area. His cousin, Shivraj Pal, who was riding with him, is in a critical condition.
According to police, the two were returning from a wedding function in Saurai Khurd when the incident occurred around 11.30 pm. An unidentified vehicle allegedly hit their motorcycle from behind, leaving both men severely injured by the roadside.
On receiving information, local police reached the spot and rushed the injured to hospital. After initial treatment, doctors referred them to SRN Hospital in Prayagraj due to the severity of their injuries.
Brijesh succumbed to his injuries during treatment a few hours later, while Shivraj continues to battle for his life, officials said.
Brijesh had joined the CRPF as a constable in 2016 and was currently posted in Jhansi. He is survived by his wife, Raksha Devi, and their six-month-old son, Ansh.
A case has been registered in connection with the incident, and efforts are underway to identify the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run, said Dharmendra Singh, station house officer....
