Lucknow, March 17 -- The Communist Party of India (M) has backed the Congress and Samajwadi Party's demand of Bharat Ratna for BSP founder Kanshi Ram. Subhashini Ali, Central Committee member, CPI (M), and former CPI (M) MLA P Krishnaprasad were in the state capital to mobilise support for the party's rally in Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on March 24. "The Centre must announce Bharat Ratna for BSP founder Kanshi Ram. All parties must come together on this issue," Subhashini Ali told media persons on Monday. On the occasion, Ali informed about the party's proposed rally in New Delhi on March 24 against anti-farmer and pro-capitalist policies of the Union government. "The trade agreement with the US is detrimental for Indian farmers. It will open the Indian market to foreign agri-products. This trade agreement must be cancelled," said Ali. She also pointed out that the India -US trade agreement will also have adverse impact on the country's MSME sector. To raise these issues, the party will hold a rally at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on March 24. A large number of the party's cadre from Uttar Pradesh will reach New Delhi for the rally, Ali pointed out. P Krishnaprasad, also finance secretary of the All India Kisan Sabha, a farmers' wing of the CPI(M), pointed out flaws in the new labour laws and how they will adversely affect workers. He pointed out that the Union government in 2019 and 2020 revoked 29 labour laws and replaced them with four new labour laws. "These laws will increase exploitation of workers and will increase working hours up to 12 hours," said Krishnaprasad, while pointing out that the new laws will restrict workers' right to go on a strike.
