Couple booked for selling land Mortgaged to bank in Nainital
Rudrapur, April 10 -- A first information report (FIR) has been filed against a couple in Nainital district for allegedly selling land mortgaged to a bank after taking a loan of Rs.1.35 crore, police said on Thursday.
According to police, the FIR was filed by manger of The Nainital Bank Suresh Chandra with the Lalkuan police station.
The bank official filed the report against individuals identified as Suresh Chandra Joshi and his wife Sarita Joshi, residents of Kishanpur Sarkuliya village.
Manoj Katyal, superintendent of police Nainital said police have registered an FIR and initiated an investigation into the matter.
"Police have lodged an FIR against a couple in Lalkuan under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and further action will be taken accordingly," Katyal said.
According to the complaint, the couple had mortgaged 230 square metres of land in Kishanpur Sarkuliya and 285.43 square metres in Bamori Malli village under Haldwani police station to secure the loan from The Nainital Bank.
The complaint further added that the bank later found that part of the mortgaged land was allegedly sold to an individual named Devki Devi within eight months of availing the loan. Police said further investigation is underway....
