LUCKNOW, Sept. 28 -- A head constable deployed at a police picket in Chinhat's Hardasi Kheda was allegedly attacked with a stick by a local youth on Friday evening, with the accused also allegedly abusing and threatening him, police said. A video of the incident went viral on Sunday. The incident took place while head constable Ajay Kumar Shukla was manning the picket. According to his complaint, he and sub-inspector Sanjeev Kumar had been deployed for picket and patrolling duties following a clash between two local groups involving Uday Pratap Mishra and Sachin Tiwari on September 23. Chinhat inspector Dinesh Mishra said an FIR had been registered on the head constable's complaint and further legal action was underway. Shukla said Sanjeev had briefly left the picket when he was sitting alone on duty. He alleged that Rahul Tiwari, a resident of Hardasi Kheda, arrived carrying a stick and began abusing and misbehaving with him. According to the complaint, Tiwari then tried to hit Shukla twice with the stick. The head constable moved back and avoided being struck, following which the accused allegedly threatened him with serious consequences. Shukla then moved away and informed Sanjeev about the incident.
