Cooling roofs, mist guns unveiled in Varanasi
Varanasi, May 9 -- Municipal Commissioner Himanshu Nagpal announced a sweeping set of initiatives for Varanasi, focused on mitigating severe summer heat, resolving long-standing civic issues like parking and launching major urban beautification and environmental projects.
The Varanasi Nagar Nigam decided to implement 'cool roof coating' to protect residents in schools and slum areas from the scorching summer heat.

Installation of this system has already begun at local Gaushalas (cow shelters).
To resolve persistent parking issues and traffic congestion at Maidagin, construction has begun on a multi-level parking facility designed to accommodate 100 vehicles.
Furthermore, a comprehensive plan has been formulated for urban renewal, which includes: Intersections and T-junctions; beautification efforts targeting 15 key points across the city, such as intersections and T-junctions, including Ambedkar Crossing near the Kachahari, Lahurabir, Lanka, Maidagin and Teliabagh....
