Cook injured in firing after street brawl in Lko's Gomti Nagar area
LUCKNOW, June 29 -- A dispute near a crossing in the Gomti Nagar area of the state capital turned violent on Sunday when one of the accused allegedly returned with his associates and opened fire after an earlier assault, injuring a cook working at a nearby hotel. Police have detained one accused and launched a search for the remaining suspects, according to an official police statement.
The incident occurred around 7 am near a hotel close to the crossing, where Ankit Rathore and his friend, Ram Mohan Dixit, were having tea. Police said Pranav Shukla, Abhay Pratap Singh, Vishnu Swaroop Dwivedi and six to seven associates allegedly reached the spot following an argument and assaulted Ankit and Ram Mohan.
A Gomti Nagar police team rushed to the scene after receiving information. Most of the accused fled on seeing the police, but officers detained Pranav Shukla. Both Pranav Shukla and Ram Mohan Dixit sustained injuries in clash and were admitted to hospital for treatment.
Police said the situation escalated when Abhay Pratap Singh allegedly returned to the area with his associates. As the group fled on a two-wheeler, one of them allegedly opened fire. The bullet struck Akhilesh, a cook at a nearby hotel and a resident of Barabanki district, in the back.
The injured cook was immediately taken to hospital, where doctors said he was out of danger and in stable condition.
Police said an FIR will be registered under the relevant sections of law based on the complaint and available evidence....
