LUCKNOW, April 22 -- The Women's Reservation Bill was passed back in 2023 but the BJP isn't willing to implement the same across the existing 543 parliamentary seats, said Praniti Shinde, Congress MP from Solapur addressing a press conference on Tuesday at party headquarter in Lucknow along with Aradhana Mishra, Leader of the Congress Legislature Party UP. Aradhna Mishra challenged the state BJP government and said, "The Yogi Adityanath government should send a proposal to the Central government to implement 33 percent reservation for women in the Legislative Assembly. The Congress has always been in favour of women's reservation-yesterday, today, and it will continue to be so in the future. I will raise the reservation issue in the upcoming special session of the House on April 30." "In fact reservation for women in panchayats and urban local bodies is the Congress party's achievement, and not the BJP. The parliament session on April 16-18 had no bill on women reservation because it was passed in 2023.
