PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 6 -- Even as the KP Trust cancelled the venue booking on Wednesday, citing an Allahabad High Court order and possible disruption of academic activities, the Congress on intensified preparations for the leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi's proposed 'Chhatra Samvad' (Student Dialogue) programme scheduled on August 8. The party is positioning the event as a major outreach initiative focused on students and youth ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) president Ajay Rai launched the party's 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' campaign at the Allahabad University Students' Union Hall and unveiled its official poster carrying slogans such as "No jobs, the throne will shake," "Let's go to Prayagraj and make history," "Education Revolution," and "Now, the students' voice will shake the roots of power." During the programme, a brief argument reportedly broke out between Congress workers and students regarding the opening of the Students' Union Hall gates. Addressing the gathering, Rai said Prayagraj has long been a centre for competitive examination aspirants but alleged that repeated delays in recruitment examinations, paper leaks and incomplete recruitment processes have adversely affected the future of young people. Congress national secretary Rajesh Tiwari appealed to students to participate in the August 8 programme in large numbers. The party also launched a student helpline during the event. Earlier, AICC secretary VP Singh, Raghavendra Pratap Singh and former Students' Union president Pradeep Mishra 'Anshuman' reviewed preparations at KP College. The Congress is projecting the Prayagraj event as the largest leg of its national 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' campaign, following similar programmes in Kota and Dehradun. Rahul Gandhi, the Congress MP from Raebareli, is expected to interact with students on issues including recruitment examinations, paper leaks, unemployment and education-related concerns. Party functionaries claim that over 1.5 lakh students have registered through digital campaigns, while arrangements are being made for food, drinking water and volunteer assistance for participants arriving from across Uttar Pradesh....
