Cong manifesto for 2027 polls to be based on feedback: Kapri
Dehradun, Aug. 20 -- Congress MLA and chairman of the party's manifesto committee Bhuwan Kapri said on Wednesday that the party's manifesto for the upcoming state assembly elections would be based on feedback from across the state.
"Today's governments have nothing to do with public concerns. The government is either being run through contractors or is being operated from Delhi," Kapri said.
He said the Congress would reach out to different sections of society at the district and assembly constituency levels to seek their suggestions for the manifesto.
"We will go among the people and seek their suggestions to prepare the manifesto. We will meet different sections of society at district headquarters, including youth, women, SC/ST communities, teachers, government employees, outsourced employees, panchayat representatives, ASHA and anganwadi workers. We will prepare a common man's manifesto, and its framework is being worked out," he said.
Kapri said suggestions would first be collected at the district level and subsequently at the assembly constituency level. The party would also launch an email ID and WhatsApp number to enable people to send their suggestions directly to the manifesto committee. "We will decide the future direction and development agenda of Uttarakhand through this manifesto," he said. He said the Congress would focus on employment and policies for young people, particularly those forced to protest on the streets due to repeated paper leaks.
"We will formulate policies for the youth who are being forced to take to the streets because of repeated paper leaks. Our focus will be on employment and an employment guarantee," Kapri said.
He added that the Congress would release its manifesto immediately after the elections are announced and would not wait for the opposition to release its document first.
"The manifesto committee's district-level programmes will begin after the completion of the SIR (Special Intensive Revision) exercise," he said.
Earlier this month, the Congress announced a new team for the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), appointing one treasurer, 24 vice-presidents, 36 general secretaries and 107 secretaries to strengthen the organisation ahead of the assembly polls.
The party also announced the constitution of five key committees for the PCC - the executive committee, manifesto committee, disciplinary action committee, SIR committee and chargesheet committee....
