Cong launches UP org-building campaign ahead of 2027 polls
India, Aug. 12 -- VARANASI The Congress on Tuesday launched a nine-day organisation-building campaign in Uttar Pradesh to strengthen its grassroots network ahead of the 2027 assembly elections and prepare workers to raise public issues.
Congress national secretary and coordinator-in-charge BM Sandeep launched the campaign in Varanasi, which will run from August 11 to 20.
Addressing a press conference, he said the party leadership had decided to strengthen and revitalise the Congress organisation at the grassroots level across the state. The organisation-building exercise will be undertaken at the metropolitan, district, block, mandal and ward levels in consultation with senior leaders, Sandeep said.
He added that the roadmap would be finalised after consultations with candidates who had contested assembly, Lok Sabha, municipal and other elections, besides leaders and workers who had played an active role in previous elections. "With the upcoming elections in mind, the party will not only strengthen the organisation but also prepare Congress workers to continuously struggle for public issues," he added.
The city Congress organisation-building exercise will be completed from August 11 to 14, followed by preparation of a detailed report by August 15. The exercise for the district unit will then be conducted from August 16 to 20, Sandeep said.
National secretary Salman Bashar, Dayashankar Pandey, Lallan Patel, district president Rajeshwar Singh Patel, city president Raghavendra Chaubey and Durgaprasad Gupta were among those present at the press conference....
