LUCKNOW, Oct. 2 -- The Uttar Pradesh health department on Thursday launched a month-long special communicable disease control campaign across all 75 districts. Deputy Chief Minister and health minister Brajesh Pathak flagged off an awareness rally, along with sanitation and fogging vehicles at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS). The campaign will run from October 1 to 31. Health teams will conduct a door-to-door 'Dastak Campaign' from October 12 to 31 to raise awareness, identify symptoms and collect information on suspected cases, according to a press release. Pathak said coordinated efforts since 2017 have helped reduce cases and deaths from Japanese encephalitis, particularly in the Purvanchal region, while measures against dengue, malaria and kala-azar are also continuing.
