Cockroaches found onfood at KGMU canteen, probe ordered
LUCKNOW, June 27 -- Serious concerns over food hygiene have emerged at the second-floor canteen in the Shatabdi Phase-I building of King George's Medical University (KGMU) after cockroaches were allegedly found crawling over cakes, buns and cream rolls being sold to customers.
Eyewitnesses claimed that several cockroaches were seen inside trays containing cakes, while others crawled over buns and cream rolls.
Despite the unhygienic conditions, the food items were allegedly being sold to patients' attendants, medical students and hospital staff.
KGMU spokesperson Prof. K K Singh said a video purportedly showing the conditions at the canteen had come to light, following which an inquiry was ordered.
"No one's health will be allowed to be compromised. The canteen will not be allowed to operate unless clean and hygienic food is served," he said....
