Coaching centre teacher held for sexual assault
LUCKNOW, July 29 -- The Talkatora police on Tuesday arrested a 30-year-old teacher of a coaching centre on charges of raping a 14-year-old student and subjecting her to other sexual offences over the past year.
"The accused, identified as Vivek Tiwari, a resident of Mawaiya in the Alambagh area, taught at a coaching centre in Rajajipuram," read a Lucknow police press note.
"The victim's mother lodged a written complaint at the Talkatora police station on Monday, alleging that Tiwari had been exploiting her daughter-a Class 9 student-for the past year by luring and threatening her," added police's statement.
According to the complaint, the accused forced the minor to engage in lewd chats on social media and coerced her into stealing cash and a gold ring from her house to give to him. The mother also alleged in the FIR that when she confronted the coaching centre owner, Nikhil Tiwari, regarding the teacher's actions, she was met with verbal abuse and death threats.
"Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered against Vivek Tiwari under Sections 65(1), 351(2), and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant sections of the Pocso Act (Sections 5(F)/6 and 16/17)," said SHO Kuldeep Dubey.
A police team, led by the Talkatora station house officer, apprehended Tiwari from his residence on Monday. Police have seized a mobile phone belonging to the accused as part of the ongoing investigation.
"The probe is being conducted in a fair and evidence-based manner. We are analysing electronic evidence, medical reports, and the victim's statement to ensure strong legal action," the SHO added....
