AGRA, Sept. 6 -- A co-accused who had been missing in a case involving the alleged rape and murder of a 21-year-old Dalit woman was arrested by police in Firozabad on Friday evening, police said. The main accused in the case was arrested on August 28 and is currently in jail. The arrested accused, Abhishek, was caught during police action on Atepur Road in Firozabad district. He was presented before a court on Saturday and sent to jail. The case was registered at Shikohabad police station after the woman, who worked in Gurugram, was allegedly raped and murdered. A 24-year-old man was arrested in connection with the case. According to police, the victim was returning home from Gurugram when the accused, Rahul Yadav alias Nitin Yadav ,24, along with his accomplice Abhishek, allegedly invited her to a hotel to celebrate his birthday. The woman was allegedly raped and killed there. The victim's father had lodged a complaint at Shikohabad police station, accusing a man known to his daughter of killing her. Based on the complaint, police registered a case against Rahul Yadav alias Nitin Yadav and his associate Abhishek under charges of murder and the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
