PRAYAGRAJ, July 24 -- A CNG cylinder being transported near the Central Jail gate in Naini, developed a leak late on Wednesday night, prompting an emergency response by the police and fire department. According to police, the DCM truck, carrying around 60 CNG cylinders for supply to a CNG filling station in Prayagraj, was travelling from Mirzapur towards the city when a leak was detected in one of the cylinders near the Central Jail gate. As CNG began escaping from the cylinder, panic spread among passers-by, with several motorists hurriedly leaving the area fearing an explosion. The truck driver also abandoned the vehicle and fled. On receiving information, Naini police, led by inspector Brij Kishore Gautam and Naini Jail police outpost in-charge Kamlesh Singh, rushed to the spot and immediately halted traffic on one side of the Mirzapur-Prayagraj road as a precaution. A fire brigade team from Naini, headed by fire station officer Mahantthu Kumar, also reached the site to assist in the operation. Meanwhile, two employees of the company transporting the cylinders reached the spot and shut the leaking valve, bringing the situation under control before it could escalate. The traffic disruption continued for nearly an hour before normal movement resumed. Fire station officer Mahantthu Kumar said the truck driver fled after the leak was detected, but the leakage was successfully stopped in time, averting a major mishap....
