CM to review home guard exam preparedness
LUCKNOW, April 22 -- In a concerted effort to strengthen its auxiliary police, the Uttar Pradesh government is set to conduct the home guard recruitment examination for 32,679 posts under an expanded and standardised framework.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to review preparedness and law and order arrangements at a high-level meeting on Wednesday.
The statewide review, to be held via video conferencing at 9 pm, will bring together the full administrative and police hierarchy, signalling the operational significance of the exercise. The written examination will be conducted on April 25, 26 and 27, marking a structured approach to recruitment aimed at improving the capability and discipline of the home guards - a key support arm of the UP Police.
All senior field formations, including additional directors general of police (zones), police commissioners, divisional commissioners, district magistrates, IG and DIG range officers as well as SSPs and SPs will participate in the meeting along with other officials tasked with execution at the district level.
Officials said the ongoing recruitment drive is part of a broader institutional push to professionalise and expand the home guards, who play a frontline role in crowd management, disaster response, traffic regulation, and election duties. The introduction of a written examination is expected to bring uniformity, transparency and merit-based selection into the process.
The CM is expected to emphasise seamless coordination between civil and police administration, micro-level deployment planning, and real-time monitoring of examination centres. Districts with high candidate volumes and those flagged as sensitive will be placed under enhanced vigilance....
