Dehradun, July 24 -- Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday launched several welfare schemes for registered construction workers and their families under the Uttarakhand Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, including initiatives focused on nutrition, education, hygiene, skill development and health care. He also flagged off two mobile medical vans under the Mukhyamantri Swasthya Yojana to provide health care services to workers and the families in remote areas. Addressing an event at Mukhya Sevak Sadan in Dehradun, Dhami said his government was committed to workers' welfare and that the newly launched schemes would help improve the quality of life of workers and their families. "Under the Mukhyamantri Poshan Yojana, nutritional support will be provided to workers' families, while the Mukhyamantri Shiksha Samagri Yojana will provide educational materials to their children. Hygiene kits will also be distributed to workers' families under the Mukhyamantri Swachhata Samagri Vitaran Karyakram, which has been inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cleanliness campaign", the chief minister said. He said, "The Mukhyamantri Yoga evam Wellness Arogya Yojana will provide free residential training in yoga and wellness to eligible children of registered workers". According to the officials, 210 children will receive such training every year. Arrangements have also been made to connect 70 youths undergoing technical training under the scheme with employment opportunities after completion of their courses. Dhami said the welfare board was functioning transparently and taking steps to ensure that benefits reached genuine workers. He said several schemes were being implemented to improve the social and economic security of construction workers. The mobile medical vans launched under the Mukhyamantri Shramik Swasthya Parikshan Yojana will take healthcare services to workers at their workplaces and places of residence in remote areas. The vans will provide 44 types of medical tests, including X-rays and ECGs, free of cost. Workers will also have access to expert medical advice through tele-consultation and receive health monitoring for three months after undergoing the tests.
