CM launches 2nd phase of School Chalo Abhiyan, targets 100% enrolment
Meerut, July 2 -- Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday launched the second phase of the statewide School Chalo Abhiyan 2026 from the Upper Primary School Ismailpur (Composite) in Saharanpur.
He said that for a healthy society, it was essential that no child remained out of school. The campaign aims to ensure 100% enrolment in schools in the new academic session, he said. The enrolment drive will run from July 1 to 15.
Addressing the gathering, the chief minister said education is the cornerstone of nation-building. Under Operation Kayakalp, the proportion of fully equipped basic education council schools increased from 36% in 2017 to more than 96% within five years, he said. During the same period, the school dropout rate fell dramatically from 19-20% to just 3-4% percent, reflecting growing public confidence in government schools, he added.
Calling for broad public participation, he appealed to MPs, MLAs, municipal councillors, village heads, block chiefs, district panchayat chairpersons, teachers, lawyers, traders, doctors, government officials, and members of every section of society to transform the School Chalo Abhiyan into a people's movement.
He urged citizens to identify children in their neighbourhoods who were not attending school and help bring them into the education system.
According to him, ensuring that every child reaches school is both a social obligation and a national duty. He noted that the second phase of the School Chalo Abhiyan was being launched from the sacred land of Maa Shakambhari....
