CM for dignified workingconditions, timely wages
Lucknow, April 16 -- Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has issued directives stating that any violation of workers' interests will not be tolerated. He asserted that it is the right of every worker to receive dignified working conditions, timely payment of full wages, and all statutory benefits; any infringement upon these rights will result in the strictest legal action against the perpetrators.
While reviewing the state's industrial situation via video conferencing late Wednesday evening, the chief minister took special cognizance of the recent events in Gautam Buddh Nagar. He directed that individuals who are not genuine workers but are found to be involved in fomenting industrial unrest, engaging in hooliganism, or creating disorder must be immediately identified, and strict punitive action taken against them. Such elements should be unmasked, and where deemed necessary, their photographs should be displayed in public places so that the general public gets a clear understanding of the actual situation.
The chief minister further directed that a policy of 'zero tolerance' be adopted against organisations, anarchic elements, and rumour-mongers involved in inciting workers. Issuing directives to maintain constant vigilance over misleading information, rumors, and propaganda circulating on social media, he stated that such instances must be identified promptly, and strict legal action must be ensured against the culprits. This, he emphasised, would enable the containment of any potential confusion or unrest right at its inception.
Taking cognisance of complaints regarding potential irregularities within manpower supply agencies, the chief minister directed the Special Investigation Committee-constituted under the chairmanship of the Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner-as well as the Labor Department, to conduct a comprehensive and thorough investigation into all such agencies across the state.
During the investigation, a meticulous examination is to be conducted regarding the actual number of workers employed, payments received from industrial units, actual wages disbursed to the workers, and the status of ESI, insurance, and other welfare amenities, with the aim of effectively curbing any form of exploitation.
The CM directed that the establishment of robust and proactive grievance redressal cells be made mandatory across all government and private industrial units, ensuring that workers' complaints are resolved in a transparent, time-bound, and impartial manner.
He directed that in instances where workers' wages are directly transferred to their bank accounts, coordination be established with the respective banks to ensure the provision of accident and life insurance coverage against contingencies such as accidental injury or untimely death.
Concurrently, special priority is to be accorded to addressing essential welfare needs.
The chief minister stated that the benefit of the increased wages should accrue to all workers effective April 1....
