CM dhami urges buying local products in festivals
Dehradun, Aug. 26 -- Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday urged people across Uttarakhand to give preference to locally made products while shopping during the upcoming festive season, saying such purchases would strengthen the livelihoods of women associated with self-help groups (SHGs), promote traditional craftsmanship and give a boost to the state's local economy.
Dhami made the appeal while visiting the 'Sashakt Bahna Utsav' organised at the Secretariat here, where stalls showcasing products made by women associated with SHGs had been set up.
He said products prepared by women through SHGs "were not merely commercial goods but also represented Uttarakhand's local culture, traditions, skills and craftsmanship". htc...
