Dehradun, Sept. 19 -- Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday met 140 selected students from across the state at the 'Mukhyamantri Yuva Vidyarthi Manthan' event in Dehradun. He said the ideas, innovation and suggestions of Uttarakhand's youth could play a pivotal role in building a developed state. The event was held at the chief minister's camp office. Dhami listened to students' ideas and their vision for the future of Uttarakhand. He said efforts would be made to incorporate useful and practical suggestions received from the youth into policymaking. He also announced that funds would be transferred through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the bank accounts of Class 10 and 12 students in government schools to enable them to purchase tablets. He said the state government was continuously working to incorporate technology into the education system and equip it for the future. Dhami also honoured students who presented outstanding ideas under different themes for the brainstorming programme. The winners included Mayuh Bhandari and Raveena for Education and Youth Opportunities, Sharon Kapoor for Environment, Forests and Disaster Resilience, Satish Kumar for Health and Public Services, Mahi Balai for Migration and Employment in Hill Areas, Shritika Rawat for Roads, Connectivity and Infrastructure, Priyanshu Sajwan for Technology and Good Governance, Drishti Chauhan for Tourism and Local Economy and Anushka Negi for Women and Child Welfare. "2,67,744 students from across Uttarakhand had shared essays, ideas and suggestions as part of the campaign," said Dhami. Students submitted suggestions on issues including education, health, tourism, roads, forests and environment, sports, migration, self-employment, startups and creating new employment opportunities in villages. Dhami stressed the need for continuous dialogue between the government and young people. Referring to an interaction between senior IAS officers and students during the programme, he said exchanges between the administration and youth could encourage fresh thinking and contribute to better policy formulation. Paying tribute to former President and Bharat Ratna Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Dhami urged students to dream big and work with dedication to turn their aspirations into reality. He described the youth as Uttarakhand's greatest strength and said their energy, innovation and hard work could help take the state towards new heights of development. During the interaction, students shared suggestions on various issues concerning the state's development and sought information about government schemes.
