CM calls for transparency in recruitment drive for 81,472 police posts
LUCKNOW, May 30 -- Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday directed that police recruitment processes be strengthened through technology-based monitoring and conducted with complete transparency, fairness and adherence to reservation norms, stated a press note shared with media on Friday.
Reviewing the functioning of the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board, the chief minister said the ongoing recruitment drive for more than 81,000 posts would significantly strengthen the state police force and should be completed within the stipulated timelines.
Officials informed the meeting that recruitment is currently underway for 81,472 posts, including 32,679 constable-level posts, 4,543 sub-inspector and equivalent posts, 41,424 Home Guards posts and vacancies in technical, clerical and sports quotas.
The CM emphasised that candidates' convenience and transparency in the selection process must remain top priorities. He also directed greater use of technical resources and regular monitoring to ensure credibility in recruitment and promotion exercises.
According to the review, the written examination for constable and equivalent posts is scheduled for June 8, 9 and 10, 2026, with nearly 2.8 million candidates having applied. The final result is targeted for declaration by the last week of October.The government also informed that promotion processes for 9,406 posts are currently in progress. Since 2017, the board has selected 2,21,245 candidates across various police categories, while 1,60,819 police personnel have been promoted.
