CM asks intellectuals to safeguard youth against appeasement politics
GORAKHPUR, May 16 -- Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday exhorted intellectuals, teachers, professionals, and opinion-makers to safeguard the younger generation against the "politics of disorder and appeasement." He also urged them to educate the youth about Uttar Pradesh's transformation over the past decade.
The chief minister was addressing a 'Prabuddh Samvad' programme in Gorakhpur. Adityanath said the present generation must be made aware of the challenges the state faced in the past so that they are not influenced by what he termed "negative politics and divisive narratives" that had once pushed the state towards disorder, instability, riots, curfews and corruption.The chief minister said that people currently in their late teens or early twenties were too young to fully understand the conditions prevailing in the state nine or 10 years ago.
"Intellectuals should take responsibility for ensuring that the youth understand what appeasement politics and misgovernance had done to the state," he said.Launching a sharp attack on Opposition parties, he said, "Misleading citizens and compromising their future for temporary political gains is nothing less than an act against the national interest."The programme was organised by the BJP's Rapti Nagar Mandal unit.
Referring to Gorakhpur, the chief minister said the city had undergone a major transformation and claimed that projects worth nearly Rs 15,000 crore had recently been launched in the city, while projects of a similar value were in the pipeline. He said these initiatives would generate employment opportunities for nearly 50,000 youths in eastern Uttar Pradesh.Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan also addressed the event.
