CM: Govt committed to preserving UP's heritage
GORAKHPUR, July 11 -- Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said his government is committed to preserving the state's heritage while ensuring modern development, adding that infrastructure expansion, conservation of religious sites and women's safety remain among its top priorities.
Addressing a public gathering in Harraiya, Basti district, after inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for development projects worth Rs.504 crore, the CM said the state had entered a new era of security, infrastructure growth and public welfare. He also claimed that nearly 1,500 temples across UP had been renovated under his government's initiatives.
Later in the day, Yogi arrived in Gorakhpur for a three-day visit during which he is scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 11 development projects worth around Rs.1,018 crore.
Besides Gorakhpur, he will also visit Kushinagar to review ongoing development works and participate in a major statewide plantation drive.
On Friday evening, the CM visited the families of three prominent personalities of Gorakhpur and paid tribute to their contributions, describing their lives as an inspiration in the fields of entrepreneurship, social service and cultural commitment.
He also met the bereaved families and expressed his condolences.
Adityanath visited the residence of industrialist and philanthropist Om Prakash Jalan, who passed away on July 8 after a prolonged illness. The CM offered floral tributes to his portrait and prayed to Mahayogi Gorakhnath for eternal peace for the departed soul. He met Jalan's wife Poonam Jalan, sons Anuj Jalan and Tanuj Jalan, and other family members, assuring them of the government's support.
The CM later visited the residence of businessman and social worker Balkrishna Saraf in Gandhi Gali, Golghar. Saraf, who was associated with social causes and had contributed to the Ram Temple movement, passed away on July 4.
Adityanath paid floral tributes to him, prayed for the peace of his soul and conveyed his condolences to Saraf's sons, Atul Saraf and Anup Saraf, along with other family members.
Adityanath also visited the Hariom Nagar residence of Geeta Press trustee Devi Dayal Agrawal. He paid tribute to Darshan Devi, mother of Devi Dayal Agrawal and wife of late Baijnath Agrawal, who passed away on July 8.
