GORAKHPUR, June 21 -- Sanjeev Singh, a clerk in the Deoria basic education office and one of the key accused in the teacher suicide case, surrendered before a court in Gorakhpur on Saturday and was later sent to jail for allegedly abetting the suicide of assistant teacher Krishna Mohan Singh. SP city Nimesh Dashrath Patil said that with Sanjeev Singh's surrender, all three named accused in the case have now been arrested. The other accused are former Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) Shalini Srivastava and former college principal Anirudh Singh. According to police, Krishna Mohan Singh died by suicide in February this year. He left behind a handwritten note and a video message in which he alleged that education department officials had mentally harassed him and demanded money to restore his job. Following the incident, an FIR was registered on a complaint filed by the teacher's widow, Gudiya Singh. The case was lodged against then-BSA Shalini Srivastava, clerk Sanjeev Singh and others under charges including abetment to suicide and criminal intimidation. Police said the teacher had alleged that he and two other teachers were asked to pay Rs.16 lakh each for reinstatement after a court order related to their appointments. The allegations sparked widespread outrage and led to a detailed investigation. Officials said legal proceedings are continuing and action will be taken against all those found guilty. The latest development comes days after suspended former Deoria BSA Shalini Srivastava was arrested in Delhi. She had allegedly been evading arrest for several months. Police had earlier announced rewards and conducted several raids to trace the accused. The case has attracted significant public attention, with allegations of corruption, extortion and administrative harassment within the education department coming under scrutiny.
